Palm Treo Pro officially announced

After much speculation and leaked images of Palm’s Treo Pro, it’s finally been announced. The Treo Pro not only sports a unique (‘n sleek) design, but it also has a large array of desirable features:

400MHz Qualcomm processor
320 x 320 Touchscreen TFT display
256 MB of built in memory
Micro SD card expansion slot (for up to 32GB of storage)
Built in GPS
Wi-Fi

The Pro also runs on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition and has a 2 megapixel camera. The best part is the phone comes unlocked, so you can pop in your current SIM card and avoid setup hassles! Costs $549 without a contract, but should be much less with one. Looks like it will be a prime competitor to BlackBerry. More pictures on the offical Palm website.

Xbox 360 / PS3 controller mod

A modder by the alias ‘RDC’ posted a controller mod of his on the benheck.com forums. Basically an Xbox 360 controller was stripped and a PS3 controller gutted – then the 360 parts were stuffed inside. RDC even swapped the Xbox 360 buttons over! Really cool hack, I want one of these things!

Limited edition red (and green?) Xbox 360 controllers

According to the Microsoft Xbox website and press site, a new Red Xbox controller is on it’s way September 30th. This limited edition controller features a red body with black highlights. The controller will retail for $65, packaged with a charger and matching red rechargable battery.

Another, green themed controller is also pictured on the Xbox press site. This controller comes in the same package (rechargable battery + charger = $5 savings from being purchased separately), although has the standard gray highlights. This green version has not been publicly announced, but is assumed to launch the same time as it’s red counterpart.

Netflix instant queue on Xbox 360 – Live in your basement

At the Microsoft press release (at E3) earlier today it was announced that in the Xbox 360 dashboard would be revamped with an entirely new design scheme, personal avatars (which look like Nintendo’s Miis), and Games could be downloaded to the Hard Drive for improved load times.

Netflix will be coming to Xbox 360 too, this fall with all of the other updates. Current Netflix subscribers can stream movies availible from the ‘instant queue’ on the Netflix website on their 360s. As an addition, viewers can ‘party up’ just like in a Xbox games and watch movies at the same time with friends.

With 10,000 movies and TV shows at your fingertips, you may be living next to your 360 (I know I will).

Xbox 360 price drop means a new model

Microsoft announced that starting today, the 20GB Xbox 360 model would now be $50 cheaper, settling at $299 (US), while supplies last. This paves the way for the improved 60GB model, which will be available this August in the US and Canada for $349 (US), the same price as the old 20 gig.

The two other models’ prices are remaining the same for the time being. The Arcade model is $280 (US), which comes with 5 arcade games and 256MB of built in storage. The Elite is sadly still $449, looks like I won’t be able to play in 1080p anytime soon.
