T Mobile to carry first Google Android phone, HTC “Dream”

Friday, August 15th, 2008

T Mobile will be the first carrier of Googles much hyped Android mobile platform on September 17. The phone to debut Android will be HTCs “Dream” (name has not been officially announced). The “Dream features a full touch screen, just like the iPhone, but that’s not all. The screen slides away just like T Mobile’s famous “Sidekick” to reveal a full, 5-row QWERTY keyboard.

The phone will also have

  • a 3 x 5 inch screen
  • 3G connectivity
  • and a 3 megapixel camera

T Mobile also seems to be going with a strange pricing strategy – $150 in the first week, then increasing to $250 and $400 each week after that.

Here’s a YouTube video thought to be of the HTC “Dream”:

Step aside iPhone, there’s a new player in town.

Plica phone concept, DS of phones

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Who says cell phones can’t have two screens? Designer James Piatt is breaking away with his latest design – a dual screen cell phone. The phone can be opened and used sideways much like T Mobile’s Sidekick, or used upright and folded like a small paperback. The keyboard interface is exactly like the iPhones’.

Totally awesome concept, i’d love to get one if they were in production! More pics after the jump. (more…)
